This book is an outgrowth of our larger and comprehensive Ultimate Collector Car Price Guide. In this book, however, we have focused on the muscle car, a phenomenon that packed big engines into small and mid-sized cars, resulting in powerful, fun-filled, and potent combinations.
When one mentions muscle cars, some makes quickly come to mind. There are, of course, the obvious inclusions, such as Pontiac's GTO, Plymouth's Road Runner, the Hemi-engined cars from Dodge, and more from the era when bigger was better, gasoline was cheap, and emission controls were yet unheard of.
While most of these cars were produced in the early 1960s through the early 1970s, there were some significant cars in the late 50s, and some into the late 80s, many of which can trace their roots to the peak of the muscle car era.
