Editorial Reviews About the Author Jack Lasenby was born in Waharoa, New Zealand in 1931. During the 1950s he was a deer- culler and possum trapper in the Urewera Country. He is a former school teacher, lecturer in English at the Wellington Teachers Co llege, and editor of New Zealands School Journal. He held the S argeson Fellowship in 1991, the Writers Fellowship at the Victori a University of Wellington in 1993, and was the Writer in Residen ce at the Dunedin College of Education in 1995. He is the author of many novels for children and young adults, including award-win ning books The Lake, The Conjuror, The Waterfall and The Battle o f Pook Island. Jack Lasenby is one of New Zealands foremost wri ters. His novels for children and teenagers have won several majo r awards, including the Esther Glen Medal, the AIM and NZ Post Ch ildrens Book Awards. He is well known for the delightful Uncle Tr ev and Harry Wakatipu stories as well as his award-winning novels about the Seddon Street Gang.
