Críticas:
"Benn's book deals with the five chapters in John's Gospel, chs. 13-17, recording the last words and deeds of Jesus. They are all in short sections written in a manner in which the young Christian can easily follow. They could be read on a daily basis with good profit. A short study guide broadens their scope for the Bible study group. The book is non-controversial, warmly written and 'chatty' in the best sense. The author has gone to the heart of these chapters and gives the reader a feel for some of the great heights and depths found in this part of John . . . well worth reading and praying through."--Rev J F Dunn, English Churchman "I want to recommend this book in the highest possible terms. As I read it and it is not a book any thoughtful Christian will want or be able to read rapidly - I was constantly being challenged regarding my own devotional life. The title refers not, as might be assumed, to the words of Christ from the cross, but to the extended and intensive instruction of the Twelve by Jesus (recorded in John chapters 13-17) in the hours immediately preceding his arrest and crucifixion. Wallace Benn has identified the themes of the Lord's discourse here as: The Last Demonstration (of love), the Last Question Time, the Last Gift and Last Perspective. It is a compelling and gripping analysis. But I would commend the book if only for one of these themes, viz. Benn's treatment of the Lord's teaching concerning the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit (The Last Gift). For me this is quite the most illuminating and precious section of quite excellent study."--CLC Book Reviews
Reseña del editor:

When someone respected and well known dies we consider their final words to be important and significant, a distillation of that person's wisdom throughout their life. The most important last words spoken were spoken by Jesus to disciples who were to be his witnesses, taking the gospel to the whole world.

Jesus' teaching and example investigated here are not strictly 'his last words'* but his meeting in the 'upper room' was the last time he saw his disciples together before being arrested and put to death.

If these were just the words of a man they would be significant; the wonder is that Jesus knew exactly what was going to happen and so carefully prepared his church for what was going to come. We are seperated by two thousand years from this event, yet there is a real sense in which we are also in that room, able to learn from his last words.
