This lavishly illustrated book is an omnibus edition of four books published between 1979 and 1985, three of which have been long out of print. Each volume covers one of the 'Big Fouir' railway companies: the Great Western, the Southern, the London, Midland and Scottish and the London and North East Railway. These books are pictorial tributes to the railways from their formation at the Grouping in 1923 but include many locomotives acquired from the constituent companies. This book is lavishly illustrated with archive photographs and many from private collections, some published in these books for the first time.
