This volume is about the spiritual journey of the soul. It is about the journeys of 27 people, and their personal experiences of God and religion. The book chronicles the different ways in which they have been shaped and marked by their encounters with God and religion, in the broadest sense, and the transitions which they have undergone in this area in their lives. The contributions to the book reflect the experiences of men and women from the different religious traditions in Ireland, including those who no longer regard themselves as part of any religious tradition, and how they have been shaped and influenced by what they have found within those traditions and beyond. The stories told in the book provide testimony that the inner journey towards awareness and self-consciousness is also a journey towards a greater awareness of the collective consciousness and culture. The book does not intend to speak for others, but it may speak to others by indicating how each individual story is part of a larger stream of shared collective experiences.
