Reseña del editor

In her first prose journal "At Home in Paradise," Carmen introduced us to an enchanted world of natural beauty intimately catching the essence of English country life with its rich variety of lively activity. Now, in "Pocketful of Paradise," its pocket-sized companion, the popular poet and journalist again invites us to journey along as she guides us through another radiant year of intriguing, and at times humorous, pastoral happenings. With wonder and enthusiasum, lending equal space to the commonplace and the unusal, Carmen observes and comments on Nature's grand displays and its subtle surprises. Through lyrical, beautifully-wrought images of silver moonlit gardens and emerald 'oceans' sprinkled with buttercups, we are drawn into her magical realms, surrounded by a fascinating assembly of wildlife (particularly her beloved bevy of colourful wild birds) some just seasonal visitors, others who make Paradise Farm their perennial home. Inspirational and meditative, the atmosphere of the journal is one of sublime peacefulness and quiet spirituality, whether read in the garden in summer, or curled up by the fireside in winter. Punctuated with charming farmland illustrations and thoughtfully-selected verses by poets like Algernon Charles Swinburne and A. E.Houseman, "Pocketful of Paradise" encourages the reader to stop and listen, to take notice of the simple pleasures of daily living, to recognise that everyday life is a fascinating journey to be celebrated every step of the way. for one who dwells in a Paradise of their own making, Heaven and earth are not so very far apart.

Biografía del autor

Carmen was born within the old walled quarter of Tarragona, the ancient Roman Capital of Spain, and during her childhood she lived opposite the 12th Century Gothic cathedral. weekly she knelt inside its heart, which exuded frankincense, musty silence and mystic secrets. Its ancient interior was dark and cold, filled with marble statues, glowing candles and haunting monastic chanting. Cloisters, dark-robed silent figures, incense; all of these seeped into her young mind and, after she taught herself English, they remained a vital core of much of her writing. Transforming her love for poetry into her true language, poems that speak to, and awaken, all that is unseen, unspoken of and untouched by the quotidian mediocrity of life, Carmen truly revives the Romantic Dream, daring to declare the reality and passion of the poetic vision. Inspiration also comes to her in mystical dreams. For days afterwards, a radiant presence remains, insisting that she composes those impressions and assisting her with her writing. In her role as a successful Music Producer, Carmen has also produced over 160 albums.
