"In Microgenetic Theory and Process Thought, Brown o ers us his most recent essays on the philosophical implications of microgenetic theory, set against the modern context of writings in process thought Brown's writing and examples are lucid enough that most readers will nd themselves not just analyzing the ideas in an academic frame of mind, but re ecting on their own phenomenological reality I think many readers will nd themselves understanding microgenetic reasoning in new ways, and will not be able to avoid new insights into the nature of their own personal phenomenology."--Don M. Tucker, Department of Psychology, University of Oregon "Mind and Matter ""
"The writing is technical but clear and the contents cover the mind/brain state, experience, consciousness, feeling, thinking, novelty and causation, certainty and conviction, and the psychology of free will - in other words, a survey of fundamental topics. Readers will find a fresh perspective on all these themes from a panpsychic or dual aspect viewpoint whereby the psyche is the experiencing brain."--David Lorimer "Network Review "

--Don M. Tucker, Department of Psychology, University of Oregon "Mind and Matter "The chapters in this volume attempt to establish some foundational principles of a theory of the mind/brain grounded in evolutionary and process theory. From this standpoint, the book discusses some main problems in philosophical psychology, including the nature and origins of the mind/brain state, experience and consciousness, feeling, subjective time and free will. The approach — that of microgenesis — holds that formative phases in the generation of the mental state are the primary focus of explanation, not the assumed properties of logical solids. For microgenesis, the process leading to a conscious end point is, together with the final content, part of an epochal state, the outcome of which, an act, object or word, incorporates earlier segments of that series, such as value, meaning and belief.
