This book includes 15 step-by-step projects, which enable children to recreate the past and learn through experience while having fun. The fascinating fact boxes provide extra insights and highlight links between the way the people in the region of Syria and Iraq lived long ago and their life in the present day. The illustrations include cross-sections, historical maps, building constructions and a pictorial time-line. It is packed with over 250 colour photographs and 50 artworks, which add a high degree of visual impact to aid learning and make information accessible at many different levels. Step back in time to explore the land between the Two Rivers, one of the most ancient of all civilisations. Investigate why the Sumerians, Assyrians and Babylonians were among the first to develop writing, mathematics and the science of astronomy. This is the perfect introduction to Mesopotamian history, people and their way of life - for school or home study, for reference and for practical learning. With themes such as Family, Food, Religion, Clothes, Weapons and Medicine, this book is stimulating, authoritative, accessible and fun to use, and the 15 step-by-step practical projects are the perfect way for children aged 8-to-12 years to learn about the lives of these fascinating peoples.
