Reseña del editor:
The Secret Society of TS Black & TG White is a novella that starts off in San Francisco and then goes to Oakland, Washington D.C., and Canada. Jay Anthony King, Jr. is the main character in this story. He is a teenager who has been secretly trying to live as a woman for the past two years. And he recently started hormone therapy but unfortunately he is still "in-the-closet" about his gender transition and his HIV+ status. These two secrets along with not quite fitting in as a light skinned black man and constantly hearing anti-queer rhetoric at home compel Jay to embark on a perilous journey of self-discovery that is filled with action and excitement. Sometimes it is very serious, tragic, comic, and erotic, which gives the reader a lot of insight into an African American subculture that is rarely acknowledged or known about in mainstream society. Jay is a 'party-animal' and is spreading the virus indiscriminately throughout the community. While experiencing love, hate, rape, murder, gay-bashing, gender issues, racism, shame, rejection, and guilt. The Secret Society of TS Black & TG White is also very exciting, passionate, entertaining, thought-provoking, and fun! It stays upbeat, fast-paced, and extremely witty with (urban) slang and black/queer street dialogue. The Secret Society of TS Black & TG White is definitely not to be missed. Especially if you are a fan of E. Lynn Harris and Iceberg Slim. This is juicy!! Ms. Rafiki Chemari is a SF native and a member of SAG, AFTRA, (ASCAP) Music Publishing, and Unite/Here. Her music is in the Freeplay Music Library in NYC. She is also a LVN/CMT. She enjoys yoga, Qi gong, meditation, natural foods, and collecting African Art.
