Julie Turner, a devoted and hard-working veterinarian, is facing an imminent divorce from her unhappy husband, Greg. In this time of need, Julie turns to her four close friends-Dee Dee, a local boutique owner; Paige, a prominent real estate agent; Maggie, a local photographer; and Amy, a dance instructor-collectively known as the Lylas (love ya like a sister), to help her cope. Julie's world changes, however, when she meets former hockey player Steven Parker at her animal clinic. The handsome play-by-play announcer of the local hockey team, the Ice Dawgs, Steven is smitten by Julie-to the latter's delight. As Julie falls deeper in love with Steven, their relationship threatens to derail the budding veterinarian's career; Julie also discovers that Steven is harboring a dangerous and complicated secret, a secret that could turn her life upside down and destroy everything she has worked hard for.
