Older women are a rapidly growing demographic in the United States. Emerging from the Shadows highlights the needs older women have for community and describes the benefits of providing a social support structure for them. A model for a social support group, Trust in the Lives of Older Women (TLOW), is presented and explored. TLOW groups have been providing support to older women since 1993.
