Brick Davidson, the redhead from Sun Dog, is a Montana sheriff. When his good friend, Silent Slade, is convicted of the murder of Scotty McKee, Brick is absolutely sure his friend was wrongly accused and allows Slade to escape. He then tenders his resignation as sheriff and makes it look as though he's heading for the Mexican border. In fact, his mission is finding the real murderer so that Slade can be exonerated.
In the course of his investigation, Brick Davidson lands right in the middle of a diamond smuggling plot, which only serves to complicate his mission of proving his friend's innocence.
An authentic Westerner from Montana, W. C. Tuttle sold more than 1,000 magazine stories and dozens of novels, almost all of which were Westerns. In a poll of "Adventure Magazine" readers, Tuttle was voted the most popular writer in the magazine. Tuttle is known for writing thrilling Westerns with a mystery plot woven into the story. He was also a screenwriter with fifty-two films to his credit. "The Redhead from Sun Dog" was the basis for the 1934 film serial "The Red Rider," featuring Buck Jones and Jim Thorpe.
