About the Author Valerie Barlow and her four siblings grew up in a small apartment in Hong Kong. She served as an elementary teacher until she moved to the United States permanently in 1999. She currently works for Verizon and is pursuing her master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology at St. John’s University. She lives in Brooklyn.
