Lucky O'Leprechaun, the mischief-maker, comes to school not to learn but to munch on the students' snacks when no one is looking.
The whole class suspects the new kid, because who else could it be? They all know each other, but no one has even learned the new kid's name.
But the new kid, Kevin O'Malley, knows a thing or two about leprechauns. He guesses it's Lucky O'Leprechaun who's tricking the class, since Lucky lives close to the school, in the garden of Kevin's cousins, Meg and Sean.
When Kevin names Lucky O'Leprechaun as the culprit, the ornery little manny calls him a smarty-pants. Now all the students and the teacher know Kevin's name and will never forget it.
Kevin and the class work together to trap the leprechaun into granting them a wish, and they soon find that anything can happen when Lucky O'Leprechaun is around. This adventure proves that when people work together, they can go far--even to the moon and the stars.
Once again, Jana Dillon's vibrant and lively illustrations bring to life one of the great pranksters in children's literature.
Praise for Jana Dillon:
"Author-illustrator Jana Dillon shows a facility with caricature and mood, a way with color that extends from subtle shading to electric color combinations, and an ability to create a style that looks new yet recalls an earlier era of picture book illustration. . . . [Dillon] demonstrates an understanding of the dynamics of picture books as well as a knowledge of what children like."
--Booklist
"Painterly use of tertiary color schemes . . . Dillon's illustrations are singular and noteworthy."
