Discover the Hidden Legacies of Daughter-Mother Wisdom... Chosen from a worldwide diversity of backgrounds, women of many generations speak their truths about mother. Stunning in their authenticity, these twenty-five personal narratives deepen our understanding of the profound heritage between mother and daughter. In voices that range from poignant whispers to bright humor, we hear timeless universals about mothering. “Wisdom Has Voice is a weaving of brave stories about the generations—grandmothers, mothers, and daughters. The melodies and colors of these stories take us through themes of joy and sorrow, identity and healing, where we find ourselves musing about time, truth, forgiveness, and love.” Linda Joy Myers President, National Association of Memoir Writers Author of The Power of Memoir
Kate Farrell, founder of the Wisdom Has a Voice project, earned her masters at UC Berkeley. She has been a language arts classroom teacher, author, librarian, university lecturer, and storyteller in Northern California since 1966. She founded the Word Weaving Storytelling Project to encourage educators to learn and enjoy the art. Now Kate sees a new tradition of storytelling among women, that between daughter and mother. What was mother really trying to tell us? Sometimes she spoke in actions and not words. With this anthology Kate hopes to find out and share the wisdom of our mothers and the meaning daughters bring to this unique and deeply bonded relationship—through memoir.
