The beginning of this book was very powerful, motivating, and full of fire. This book will give you a new way to view the world and everything in it through a very positive window. It will also empower and equip you for conscious, creative growth, and instill in you the belief and the fire to be great.

Wattles asserts that greatness is not only for a select, privileged few, but that every person has within themselves the power and faculties to become great in their own right. Indeed, Wattles believes that “Greatness is equally inherent in all, and may be manifested by all.”

You will like the following paraphrased lines from the book: "To become 'great,' you must start by doing small things in great ways. So he says to begin today to be great in your own home and office...in all relations, be just, generous, courteous and kind. When you begin to do even small things in a great way, you will eventually be able to do bigger things in a great way. Your habit of deliberately thinking and acting in the best way you know how will cause you to continually grow until you become a great person."

Wattles precribes this in regards to being great: "DO not merely think that you are going to become great; think that you are great now. Do not think that you will begin to act in a great way at some future time; begin now. Do not think that you will act in a great way when you reach a different environment; act in a great way where you are now. Do not think that you will begin to act in a great way when you begin to deal with great things; begin to deal in a great way with small things. Do not think that you will begin to be great when you get among more intelligent people, or among people who understand you better; begin now to deal in a great way with the people around you."
Biografía del autor:
Wallace Delois Wattles was an American author. A New Thought writer, he remains personally somewhat obscure, but his writing has been widely quoted and remains in print in the New Thought and self-help movements. Wattles' best known work is a 1910 book called The Science of Getting Rich in which he explained how to become wealthy.

He studied the writings of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and Ralph Waldo Emerson and recommended the study of their books to his readers who wished to understand what he characterized as "the monistic theory of the cosmos".

Through his personal study and experimentation Wattles claimed to have discovered the truth of New Thought principles and put them into practice in his own life. He wrote books outlining these principles and practices, giving them titles that described their content, such as Health Through New Thought and Fasting and The Science of Being Great. His daughter Florence recalled that "he lived every page" of his books.

A practical author, Wattles encouraged his readers to test his theories on themselves rather than take his word as an authority, and he claimed to have tested his methods on himself and others before publishing them.

Wattles practiced the technique of creative visualization. In his daughter Florence's words, he "formed a mental picture" or visual image, and then "worked toward the realization of this vision".

Rhonda Byrne told a Newsweek interviewer that her inspiration for creating the 2006 hit film The Secret and the subsequent book by the same name, was her exposure to Wattles's The Science of Getting Rich. Byrne's daughter, Hayley, had given her mother a copy of the Wattles book to help her recover from her breakdown.
