Lowell Thomas was an American writer, broadcaster, and world traveler. He was the author of more than a dozen books in his lifetime, including the classic With Lawrence in Arabia (1924). He passed away in 1981. Mitchell Stephens is historian and a professor of journalism in the Carter Institute at New York University. He is the author of The Voice of America: Lowell Thomas and the Invention of 20th-Century Journalism, as well as A History of News, a New York Times "notable book of the year."
