The Bliss is in the Stumble

Cooked to sweet perfection, sacrificed as someone else's treat." -from the poem Synchronicity I seem to have learned more from my failures and mistakes then I have from getting it right. So why can I not enjoy the fall as much as the rise? The Bliss is in the Stumble is an exploration of the descent to soul and finding my unique voice in the world. It's about the exploration of what it means to be lost. What happens when life presents its little surprises packed with hooks and nails? Can we see the difficult time in our life as gifts, or do they tear us down and take our spirit for living away? How do we find resilience? How do we stay passionate about life with all of life's challenges and losses? These are topics that have become the driving passion of my life. Inspired by Franciscan Fr. Richard Rohr, extensive work with guide to soul Bill Ploktin (Soulcraft), and over 25 years seeking a life of sobriety through the 12 steps and Zen mediation, my provocative poetry sings praises for a return to the Earth and a connection to Universal realities that are sure to please.

Jeffrey Bryan Grubert, was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1960"s and 70"s. He spent 30 years building a successful home entertainment company in Laguna Beach, CA until it failed dramatically. In 1988, at the beginning of that career he voluntarily entered a treatment center for alcohol and drug addiction and has spent most of his life committed to practicing and teaching the art of living a sober life with the help of disciplines including the 12 steps, the Catholic faith, and Zen meditation. He considers his life a living example of how The Bliss is in the Stumble. The Bliss is in the Stumble is Jeffrey Bryan Grubert's first book of poems where he sings about the crooked, authentic path of soul initiation (path of descent) which presented itself in the midst of great vocational crisis and in the wonderment of arriving spiritually equipped at middle age. Guided by Bill Plotkin (Soulcraft) and his Animas Valley Institute, Durango, CO, Jeff entered a yearlong program has not looked back.
