This is the fifth volume of what is now known as "The Notational Quintet," a collection of acerbic and penetrating views of our contemporary society. The author tends toward pessimism but there are occasional bright rays that engender some hope. In reading these pieces you may be disturbed-occasionally outraged-but not bored. Good for deck reading on SS Titanic...
Dayton Lummis, an Ivy League graduate, is the owner of “two small banks” that he recently relocated from Pennsylvania to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Cast-iron antiques, they sit on one of his bookcases in the casita the author occupies when he is not traveling (often behind a veil of secrecy). A jazz enthusiast, he can often be found on Friday nights in the lounge of El Meson in Santa Fe enjoying the sounds of The Three Faces of Jazz. “Better than Amarillo,” he says.
