Writing is a Process is a series of eight children's picture books that help kids understand the importance of using a writing process in the development of their stories. This book, Writing is a Process, is the first one in the series. Readers will follow along with a group of young friends as they begin their journeys to becoming writers. Through lyrical rhyme, effective story-telling, and fabulous illustrations, this book will engage, entertain, and inform students of all ages. As you continue through the series, you meet each child as he or she works on different steps in the writing process. These books are a great way to introduce the idea of using a process to write stories as well as to introduce lessons on each step such as brainstorming, rough drafts, revising, etc.
Biografía del autor
Terri Kelley, M.Ed, is the author of the Writing is a Process series and many other children’s picture books as well as of the chapter book series, Gingerly. Her passion for writing and reading began when she was a very young girl. She was raised in Copperas Cove, Texas where she grew up in the country with horses and lots of freedom to explore her environment. It was a idyllic childhood. Terri is the mother of three adult children: Melynda, Jessica, and James. As they grew, each of her kids provided Terri with many fond memories which she incorporates into some of her writing. In her life, Terri has held a couple of different careers. Her previous one was as a teacher and reading specialist in Tomball, TX. It was there that she became aware of the kinds of books children enjoyed reading. She also noticed areas in need of good children’s books. You will find many of her books respond to these needs. Terri is very happily married to her best friend, Michael. Together, they live in Eugene, OR with their black Labrador, Oliver. Terri and Michael enjoy traveling together, fishing, going to the movies, and, of course, reading great books. They have many good friends with whom they enjoy spending time as well.
