John August Schumacher holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and religion from Concordia College (Moorhead, Minnesota) and a Master of Arts degree in history and theology from Wartburg Theological Seminary (Dubuque, Iowa). Now employed in the field of Information Technology, Schumacher lives with his wife and two children near Omaha, Nebraska.
