Reseña del editor:
Holley Gene Leffler’s novel, In Remembrance of You, is a fascinating blend of history and fantasy based on her grandfather’s 1903 drive from San Francisco to Portland, Maine - the first such crossing by motor car. Using the daily log of the driver, Whitman, and the storytelling of his young mechanic, Hammond (‘Ham’, the author’s grandfather), you are taken on an adventurous ride.Participating in a 1985 re-creation of the trip as a passenger in a 1902 Oldsmobile, Holley Gene has visions of how things looked along the way in 1902. She finds a way to send a letter back in time to her grandfather - notes containing suggestions, cautions, and helpful hints for his upcoming journey in 1903.The men covered over 4,000 miles in eighty days, across a country where gas stations and highways did not yet exist. Along the way, they were supported by a loving granddaughter born decades later! Can ‘Ham’ find a way to thank her?The book includes photos taken on the 1903 trip and the 1985 re-creation.
