Claudette Francis entered the teaching profession in September 1954. For more than half a century she challenged students to reach their God-given potential. Francis was born in Guyana (then known as British Guiana) in South America. She is the second of eight siblings who grew up in Pouderoyen, on the West Bank of the Demerara River. She immigrated to Canada on July 20, 1969, the same day that astronauts landed on the moon. Francis received her B.Ed. (1984) from McGill University and earned her Certificate in Reading Instruction (1985) also from McGill University, while she actively pursued her calling as a classroom teacher. Francis began a writing career nineteen years ago. Three years later, she published a series of educational books suitable for young children aged three years to seven years. Her passion, however, was to help students spiritually, by connecting their lives to the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. Her book, THE MYSTERY OF THE RESURRECTION, though partly fiction and full of humor, underlines the truth of the very foundation of their faith. It is truly inspirational, educational and entertaining. Francis, who lives in Toronto, is happily retired from active classroom teaching.
