The pharmaceutical laboratories are complete in their appointments. Each table has gas, water, and steam-bath attachment, and each a closet for the stowing of apparatus. Through the liberality of the Alumni Association, a fivehorse-power boiler with an elaborate system of steam pharmaceutical apparatus has been supplied to this department. Five copper steam'kettles and evaporators, steam-still and condenser, steam sand-baths extending the length of each counter, afford the student opportunities of acquiring a knowledge of the use of steam in the preparation of pharmaceutical products. The processes of the Pharmacopoeia will claim especial attention and not only will those galenical preparations that are frequently made by the retail pharmacist receive the consideration they deserve, but particular care will be extended, in order thateach student may learn how to make many chemical and pharmaceutical preparations that he has not been in the habit of making. Instruction is given in the preparation of fluid extracts, tinctures, syrups, extracts, powders, pills, plasters, ointments, cerates, suppositories, lozenges, spirits, waters, infusions, confections, granular and crystallized salts, scaled iron salts, the iron solutions of the Pharmacopoeia, etc., etc., etc. For full information, inquire of the Director, Prof. Remington.
