The record of public services of the family noted in this book is given with no partiality so far as the authors have knowledge of such services. The Widely scattered survivors could not all be reached promptly and did not respond very promptly - at times not at all and we have done the best we could with the data avail able; and while we feel that it should be better we be lieve that it is good.
