A covenant is concluded on the basis of certain conditions, these being termed the words of the covenant. 3 In so far as these are written down, they are called the tables, or book of the covenant.4 And in many cases the covenant had probably also a definite outward token - the Sign of the covenant. At least we shall find instances of this in the course of our investigation.
