Scopo di questo studio è chiarire alcuni punti, o tuttora contestati o non venuti mai in discussione. Spiegherò brevemente ciascuno dei medesimi prima di passare a trattarne.
I° Punto contestato è la data della battaglia della Trebbia rispetto all'anno usato nel diritto pubblico Romano e da esso determinato. Quest'anno era lo spazio di tempo durante il quale fungevano i medesimi Magistrati, magistrati, intendo, supremi patrizi, ossia consoli e pretori ; ed era l'anno ufficiale. Or bene, Polibio e Livio son discordi, poiché, secondo il primo , avevano già preso l' ufficio in Roma Cn. Servilio e G. Flaminio, consoli 537/217 nel tempo in cui i costoro predecessori Ti.
