The information I had collected. I found, that were I to print my observations in the form in which they were delivered, they would not be acceptable to the public generally, for they were couched in the language usually employed in science, and they abounded in technical terms. I therefore resolved to give, in a popular form, that which would most probably be required by the general reader, - to condense it in a small volume, and to reserve for the Transactions.
