Excerpt from The Operative Treatment of Chronic Intestinal Stasis
In the two preceding editions I employed the title "Chronic Constipation" instead of the more comprehensive and scientific term "Chronic Intestinal Stasis." I did so for the reason that the delay in the large bowel is (lie primary or causal factor of the condition, and because the title Chronic Constipation at that time called for less explanation than that which I have now rendered familiar to the profession. The chapters by Dr. Jordan, Dr. Nathan Mutch, and Dr. James Mackenzie will serve to make the subject clearer from the radiological, bacteriological, chemical, and clinical aspects.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the intricate workings of the human body, exploring the fascinating connection between physical posture, skeletal structure, and the digestive system. The author, a pioneer in his field, examines the evolution of the human body through the lens of mechanics and how the habitual postures we adopt throughout life can shape our bones, joints, and internal organs. The book challenges conventional medical wisdom of the time, questioning the common understanding of congenital and inflammatory causes for skeletal and intestinal ailments. It argues that many of these conditions are instead the result of long-term, cumulative mechanical stresses, particularly those arising from manual labor. Through detailed anatomical illustrations and insightful observations, the author provides a unique perspective on the development of intestinal stasisââ âa condition marked by a slowed movement of food through the intestines. He connects this stasis to a range of other health problems, including ulcers, appendicitis, and even gynecological issues, ultimately arguing that proper drainage of the digestive system is crucial for overall health and wellbeing. This groundbreaking work offers a new framework for understanding the human body and the profound impact of mechanical forces on its function.
