Excerpt from Poemata
Tell me, now thou hast full leisure, Which doth give thee greatest pleasure?
Mortals it doth ill beseem Seasons, made of God, to deem Sacred all and sweet they be. Nathless, which best liketh me.

Excerpt from Poemata
Cleodamus and Myrson
Bion, c. B.C. 280
Which of the Four Season is best?
C. Summer, Winter, Spring or Fall: -
Myrson, which is best of all?
Summer, when we sons of toil

Safe from cold, and, more or less,
Eat the bread of idleness?
Or dost thou the love-word sing
Of the jolly time of Spring?
Tell me, now thou hast full leisure,
Which doth give thee greatest pleasure?
M. Mortals it doth ill beseem
Seasons, made of God, to deem:
Sacred all and sweet they be.
Nathless, which best liketh me,
