Sheltered

He snow is winter, -
'Tis not the frost, and not the cold,
That from the North in legions bold,
With spears of ice and coats of mail
That glisten thick with crystal scales,
Comes rushing down on frosty steeds,
And nothing fears and nothing heeds!

Though songsters all by day and night
To warmer skies have taken flight,
And frozen are the ground and lake,
And trees their leafless branches shake
Impatient of the biting air,
And to his warm and secret lair
In holes in ground and holes in trees
