Maria, and Maria only, was to be seen in the plane of my thoughts; like a triumphant Amazon in accomplishments, she seemed to look down on the scattered legions of reflections which fleeted before her power; and in the zenith of upright superiority and conscious exultation, she appeared to exclaim - "Here am I queen! here will I reign supreme mistress!"
