When the time came we took the steamboat and went the sixty miles to Moss Landing, where we were hospitably entertained for ten days. The daughter, Mariva, was delighted to have us in their own home, and soon entered into the experience of perfect love, and in talking about this camp-meeting that was to be held twelve miles from there, she said she was going with me. Mr. Moss offered his horses and a light wagon and the son went to drive, and we started close on the beach that we might enjoy the ocean and the sights along the way. The owner of the team said, "If you start early you can get there by nine o'clock Sunday morning." "Then," I said, "we will get there by love feast." But we had not gone two miles before the wagon began to sink till it was down to the hubs, and all but myself had to walk half the distance. We got there about two o'clock in the afternoon, and immediately the next morning my husband paid my board there for eight days, and said, "I don't see any meeting here, do you?
