Edward Reynolds, a covenanter, was one of the Divines at the Westminster Assembly and a frequent preacher in London. One of the most influential and eloquent Puritans, he was chosen Vice-Chancellor of Christ Church University in 1648, and was made chaplain to the King in 1660.
