Tino Turtle is not like other turtles. He is unique. Many times, when entering his burrow for his long winter sleep, he wished to travel and see the world. Finally, his Fairy God Turtle grants his wish. Now this endearing character fulfills his fantasy and mission...to meet new friends and travel to far away places. He explores historical landmarks and the culture of other people around the world. He teaches his readers facts about new cities in an exciting way by taking them on an ‘adventure in travel.’ Tino sincerely hopes that his readers will enjoy his stories and find them to be a truly fun experience. He appreciates and thanks all his friends for joining him on his ‘travel adventures.’ The character of Tino Turtle was inspired and created by author Carolyn L. Ahern, who lives in Nevada. Tino is a young tortoise from the Mojave Desert. A tortoise is a type of land dwelling turtle. He has a high domed shell and elephant shaped hind legs that help him withstand the intense heat of the desert. Tino, like most desert tortoises, spends most of his time in his underground burrow and hibernates there during the cold winter. He is never in a hurry to find water because he can wait a year or more between drinks. Most of the moisture in his diet comes from the grasses and plants that he eats in the spring. Tino lives very comfortably in extreme conditions of the desert and will likely live to the ripe old age of about 100 years.Tino Turtle invites adventurous children and their parents to enjoy a magical series of original stories. These charmingly written and wonderfully illustrated travel tales teach children about actual locations in amazing cities around the world. Join Tino Turtle on his visits and learn historical and cultural highlights of favorite attractions. Each new tale will leave Tino’s world-travel companions with a vision of another wonderful destination!
Biografía del autor:
Carolyn L. Ahern is a wife, homemaker, and Registered Nurse, with a BA in psychology. She has traveled extensively with her husband, entrepreneur Don Ahern, on his business trips. While Don was in business meetings, or during sight-seeing tours, Carolyn would write down ideas for children’s books and take notes on her travels...thus a ‘seed’ was planted. The idea for her Tino Turtle Travels series of books came to her as a perfect way to share her travels with children. As an advocate of early childhood literacy, she has lovingly developed the character Tino Turtle, desert tortoise and adventure traveler! With each book, Carolyn hopes to nurture children’s minds with true and historical facts as they explore new travel destinations with Tino.
