The Adventures of the Faithful Counselor: Volume 6 (Conversation Pieces) - Tapa blanda

The Adventures of the Faithful Counselor relates a series of stories about the ancient gods Inanna and Gilgamesh from the point of view of Inanna's lover and sidekick, Ninshibur, the Faithful Counselor. As a storyteller, Sheldon performed "Inanna and the God of Wisdom" based on Diane Wolkstein and S.N. Kramer's translation of the 2nd century BCE cuneiform tablets. After telling the story for a few years, Sheldon began to feel the lack of a point of view that is missing from the traditional story—that of Ninshibur, Inanna's Faithful Counselor.

Anne Sheldon was born in Washington, DC, and graduated from Swarthmore College. Formerly a children’s librarian, she lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, with two cats. She is currently a poet-in-the-schools working through the Maryland State Arts Council and teaches storytelling at the College of Library and Information Sciences at the University of Maryland. As a storyteller, she has performed widely in the mid-Atlantic region. Her repertoire includes folktales and legends as well as her own narrative poetry and that of classic poets such as Robert Frost. Her work includes The Adventures of the Faithful Counselor (Aqueduct Press, 2005), The Bone Spindle (Aqueduct Press, 2011), and Hero-surfing (Washington Writers' Publishing House, 2002).
