Hazel Bennett has enjoyed her working life as a teacher, mostly in primary schools, with some time in secondary and special schools. She has also taught abroad as a volunteer in a charitable school in Cambodia. She has been a class teacher in every year in the primary school and a support teacher in every year from Nursery to Year 8, as well as being a supply and peripatetic teacher. Hazel has combined her teaching with post-graduate study, childrearing and writing. She has appeared on the Teachers TV Channel in the series, ´They didn’t teach me that´, and written features for educational publications. She has also had short stories and travel pieces published and won prizes in writing competitions.
