Many of us have painted the town red. But 16-year-old Libby Page has been painting the city of Bath pink. The self-confessed girlie who is currently studying for her AS levels has just completed a six-month labour of love on a book all about the colour pink. And she's had some vital support from firms in Bath. She said: "I absolutely love the colour pink and I knew there hadn't been a book quite like this one before." Armed with her camera and notebook, Libby took to the streets of Bath looking for images to inspire her. Her book, Love Pink, is packed with photos, interviews and historical Libby, who lives in Dorset, said: "It's a pretty girly book and I had so much fun making it. I'm just so unbelievably excited about seeing it in the shops." The book is published by her mum Sally's company Fanahan Books, which is also donating 70 per cent of the profits to the charity Breast Sally helped Libby with some of the photography and together they travelled all over the country taking pictures of anything pink they could find. In Bath, florist Rachel Lilley arranged some pink blooms, specialist paint store Farrow and Ball provided the material to allow her to give a postbox a temporary makeover, Country Cupcakes baked some one-off pink products, while the book also features shoe store Duo, boutique Mee and the city's Fashion Museum. Libby, who lives in Gillingham, asked celebrities to tell her what the thought the colour pink smelled like. Her book reveals that actress Judi Dench imagines it smells like a champagne cocktail, whilst Joanna Lumley loves the pink of the dog rose that grows wild in hedgerows. Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown, on the other hand, likes the pink of iced fairy cakes, while designer Matthew Williamson is passionate about fuschias. Mum Sally said: "I'm so proud of her. She's worked really hard over these six months and it's been lovely for us to spend so much time together." Although the book is now finished and awaiting its launch on April 25, Libby said things weren't always easy. "Lots of people didn't take me seriously because I was 16. "I'd have to get my mum to talk to different companies because they just didn't want to talk to a student." She added: "I'm just really pleased with how it looks after all the hard work." Tory Leader David Cameron congratulated 16 year old Libby Page on the launch of her first book Love Pink (Fanahan Books, h/b, £9.99) last Saturday (25th April). A celebration of all things pink, the book features celebrity anecdotes and pink pictures. Page will donate 70% of profits to breast cancer care. Mother and daughter spent six months in search of all things pink and over the months Libby recorded her views of their discoveries, including information she gathered from the numerous and helpful pink enthusiasts they encountered along the way. The book also includes many of Libby's own photographs and the responses she received from journalists and celebrities who replied to the 'pink questions' she sent them.
