Anthony West was the illigitimate son of H G Wells and Rebeca West. H G Wells was still married to someone else, and continued to be so after the relationship with Rebecca West ended. Antony West wrote a thinly disguised autobiography about a boy being ignored by his rich parents, criticising his mother, who famously threatened to sue her son. The book was poublished after her death. In the volume in hand, West writes of de Stael, who had very many lovers sought revenge through her writing on real and imaginary enemies; de Charriere who married a narrow minded man who bored her and wrote romantic novels; and George sand with her mens clothes and cigars, ruthless in sexual vendettas and bringing grief to all who knew her, including Chopin and her own daughter.
