The Palatkwapi Trail (Plateau Magazine, Vol. 59, No. 4) - Tapa blanda

A story from Hopi history about "Palatkwapi," the ancient home of several Hopi clans, indicates that this area was believed to be in the Verde Valley. Research shows that a unique and very precise path ran from the Hopi villages to the Verde Valley by way of what is now Winslow, Arizona. With considerable assurance, we can assume the Palatkwapi Trail has been traveled continuously for more than 1200 years. It is likely that prehistoric people used the trail for several thousand years and that this old road served as an important section of an extensive prehistoric trade route system that went from Colorado and New Mexico through Arizona west to the pacific Ocean in California and south to northern Mexico.
