This proceedings, ""Finite Element Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures"", presents papers from an international workshop sponsored by ASCE-ACI Committee 447 and held at Columbia University in the City of New York June 2-5, 1991. The overall purpose of the workshop was to bring together those who are responsible for many of the advances made since the previous workshop in Tokyo in 1985 and to prepare for a state-of-the-art report. Papers by research workers and professional engineers from the U.S., Japan, Europe, and Canada cover progress during the last 6 years in: constitutive modeling; fracture mechanics; reinforced concrete modeling; time-dependent behavior; dynamic loading; computational aspects; generic problems; specific applications; and finite element as a design tool. Among the advances considered to be most significant are the development of analytic methods that are based on fracture mechanics, including robust computational approaches. Also noted was the relatively slow pace of incorporating technological advances in nonlinear finite element modeling in reinforced concrete design practice, especially in the U.S.
