1081. And the battle for control of the Holy Roman Empire has begun.
Within Constantinople, three factions will go to any lengths to seize the imperial throne. While outside the city’s walls, two very different but equally ambitious armies gather. To the west, the massed ranks of the most feared Norman warlord of his day; to the east, the Turkish hordes.
But for their shared lust for slaughter – and for Constantinople’s gold – these opposing forces would be at war with each other. Together, they threaten a siege that will crush this once-mighty empire. Each is baying for blood.
Now is the time for Hereward and his spear-brothers to ready themselves - for this could be their final stand...
James Wilde is a Man of Mercia. Raised in a world of books, the author studied economic history at university before travelling the world in search of adventure. He first encountered the great English warrior, Hereward, in the pages of a comic. It was while visiting the haunted fenlands of Eastern England, Hereward's ancestral home, that he became convinced that this legendary figure should be the subject of his first novel. The 'Hereward' series now runs to six novels, the most recent of which is Hereward - The Bloody Crown.
James Wilde divides his time between London and the family home in Derbyshire.
