I would like to present to people's eyes an image, the image of a woman mentioned only once by St Paul and then anonymously as just 'a woman'. But she is evoked in the Trinitarian setting of the Father who sends and of the Son and the Spirit who are sent: 'But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman. God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts' (Gal 4:4,16). Mary is the handmaiden of low estate (Lk 1:48) and is only that; but God has used her for the service of his own mystery, that of begetting the Son in the power of the Spirit, when it pleased him to make this mystery a reality in this world.
