Descripción Patrick Stephens Ltd, London, 1971. Hardback. Condición: Mint. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. First Thus. TRACK TOPICS A Great Western Railway Book of Railway Engineering. G. W. Chapman. Patrick Stephens Ltd., London 1971 Facsimile Edition. ISBN 0850590809 260pp Illustrated Hardback. This mint unmarked copy is uniformly bound in brown cloth covered boards with cream titling to the spine. The unclipped dust wrapper is lightly sunned to the spine but still fine. In the years following the railway grouping in 1923 The Great Western Railway remained virtually unaffected and was more favourably placed than the other three companies. It has always attracted a passionate following among railway enthusiasts and transport historians of all ages which persists to this day. Uniquely, in the early twenties, the Company embarked upon a series of seven lavishly illustrated books which were known as ‘"Boys of All Ages" series. Facsimile reprints were published by the transport publisher Patrick Stephens Ltd in the early seventies. Fully illustrated with drawings, maps and rare photographs taken from the G.W.R. archives. Apart from the sheer sentimental joy that this reprint provides in being able to carry the sympathetic reader back to those times, it recreates the flavour of the period and sets the scene for historical railway modellers ever since.
