Reseña del editor:
Courtly Live in the Shopping Mall is based on the workshops sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The purpose of the workshops was to train librarians who work with young adults to design and implement humanities programmes. As the title suggests, one theme of the humanities programmes described here is to help young adults discover the connection between ageless human concerns - such as love and courtship - with their daily lives. The book focuses on four important areas: an introduction to humanities programming for young adults; and overview of planning and preparation of actual programmes; instruction in writing proposals for funding of humanities programming for youth; and three model programmes: ""Courtly Love in the Shopping Mall"", ""B.P.O.P. (Big Person on the Planet) and the Heroic Catalogue""; and ""I Know It's True Because It Happened to My Best Friend's Cousin: The Modern Legend in America"". This book aims to be an inspiration for school librarians, YA librarians in public libraries, teachers, and anyone working with young adults.
