Reseña del editor:

Many, perhaps most, modern Christians misunderstand the term “kingdom of God.” They see it as a synonym for heaven, solely as something that will transpire in the next life. They perceive it as “still to come” rather than “already begun.”

The World as It Should Be by Greg Pierce emphasizes Jesus' own words and actions to help people reimagine the kingdom of God as Jesus originally intended--it is both heavenly and earthly. And since the kingdom of God is meant to come "on earth, as it is in heaven," Pierce asks each of us to think about the role we have to play in bringing the kingdom about, and then to roll up our shirtsleeves and help make this world the way it should be.

Contraportada:

The kingdom of God is at hand, and you have a hand in bringing it about.

Jesus’ entire mission and ministry revolved around one key concept: the kingdom of God. But many, perhaps most, modern Christians misunderstand the term “kingdom of God.” They see it as a synonym for heaven, solely as something that will transpire in the next life. They perceive it as “still to come” rather than “already begun.”
Through 30 short essays in The World as It Should Be, businessman, social-justice worker, and citizen organizer Greg Pierce sets out to help people reimagine the kingdom of God as Jesus originally intended—it is both heavenly and earthly, and because it is to come “on earth, as it is in heaven,” each of us is called to roll up our shirtsleeves and help make this world the way it should be.
The World as It Should Be emphasizes Jesus’ own words and actions to help us explore what this kingdom might look like and the role each of us has to play in bringing it about. Pierce steers clear of offering specific solutions to difficult, often divisive, issues of public or social policy; rather, with the help of questions for reflection and dialogue with others, he encourages us to determine for ourselves the actions we should take to bring about a better world—the kingdom of God that Jesus so passionately proclaimed.

Greg Pierce has over 40 years of experience working for social justice. He is the president of ACTA Publications, as well as a leader in United Power for Action and Justice. Greg is the author of several books, including the best seller Spirituality at Work. He and his wife, Kathy, live in Chicago and have three young-adult children.
