Reseña del editor:
Oncology Nursing: Assessment and Clinical Care is designed to be a comprehensive clinical reference for oncology nurses and other nurses who care for cancer patients and their families in a variety of settings. This book will be the flagship of Mosbys oncology nursing list.It will be comprised of 75 chapters (see Table of Contents) organized into two parts. Proposed book length is 1700 pages. Each chapter will include numerous tables, boxes and figures illustrating major points. One of the main features in Oncology Nursing will be the use of four special tables which will have their own unique design and will be specific to all chapters in Part II. These tables are: Standard of Care for the Patient With..., Quality of Care for the Patient With..., Assessment of the Patient With..., and Patient Preparation For.... These tables will be detailed in the Unique Featuressection.
Part I, Principles of Oncology Nursing, includes 19 chapters which provide an up-to-date understanding of cancer as a disease, its pathophysiology, the therapeutic modalities used alone or in combination to treat it, an overview of the principles of collaborative nursing management of cancer patients across the continuum of care, cultural issues, and special considerations in providing physical and psychosocial care to terminally ill patients and their families.
Part II, Practice of Oncology Nursing, provides 56 chapters, each covering the clinical management of specific types of cancers. Where our competitors have simply listed several specific cancers as a sub-grouping within a single chapter, Oncology Nursing will present each specific cancer as its own chapter, assuring easy reference and comprehensive coverage of each type of cancer. The chapters in Part II will generally follow many of the same headings, including INTRODUCTION, HISTORY, EPIDEMIOLOGY, RISK FACTORS, PATHOLOGY, EVALUATION, MANAGEMENT, TREATMENT, PROGNOSIS, and RESEARCH ISSUES, all depending on how they relate to the content of the chapter.
