This text is prepared specifically for parish councils. Since these councils generally adjourn for the summer months, the ten services in this book have been created for a September through June year. Eight to ten minutes long, they give councils a useful, unified prayer format for the year. Each prayer service has a theme and a symbol. In most cases the theme and symbol relate to the liturgical seasons or to an American Catholic Church emphasis for the month, for example, October - "respect life".
