Fred E. C. Culick is a leading expert in aeronautics and astronautics and is currently Richard L. and Dorothy M. Hayman Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. He helped create a full-scale replica of the Wright Flyer for use in wind-tunnel testing and is now at work on a new replica that he will pilot on the hundredth anniversary of the first flight in 2003. He lives in Pasadena, California.
