Author Michael Green takes on the topic of tanks, not any particular tank, but takes a step back and looks at the why and how of each principal armor developer's tank design philosophy...The title is loaded with many color and some period black and white photos providing a nice look at the tanks and some of their interiors to illustrate the design and operational philosophies that led from one tank design to the next as experience and technology paved the way to more powerful combat systems. This is a well-written book that will provide a unique look into the history and evolution of tank design from World War I to present. This title is highly recommended--Cyber Modeller Online--This is a very informative, generalized book about tanks of all nations from conception, through war and now in peacetime --Armour Modelling and Preservation Society, December 2008
There have been numerous books written about tanks from the past to present. Well, here is another one. This time from AFV author Michael Green. This book covers the main players in tank development namely, Great Britain, United States, Germany, France and Russia. Each country is historically covered in a precise and abbreviated chronological manner touching on tanks that played a significant role either in battle or technological development. Something that I noticed that was interesting reading were the 'tank facts' that tell something about a particular technology or tank itself. Some of these facts range from vehicle specifications to technological advances and terminology. The quality of color and black/white photos are very good. Most of these tank photos are those already on display (static or running) at various museums around the world. I found some of these photos to be unique and very interesting. This is a good book for quick reference and facts. I recommend it to the tank buff looking for precise information and not a long drawn out reading. Tank modelers would also benefit from the color photos to replicate paint schemes and markings. --Internet Modeller, December 2008

Reseña del editor:
This book takes readers into the evolutionary process that occurs in every major tank-producing nation in the world--America, Germany, England, France, and Russia—via a series of black and white and color images from World War I through today. To back up the images there are specifications on many of the better-known tanks as well as factoid boxes that explain many of the features that make up the tanks.
